Who knew that a child labeled “Reluctant Reader” would grow up to write and publish dozens of books for children and tweens? Yeah, that’s me. As a child, my family moved around a lot, allowing me to live on a farm, in an historic home and always near rivers or bayous. My playthings were hula-hoops, old typewriters and a wooden leg named Charlie. (Yep, you read that right.) But I’ve lived most of my life right here in Houston, Texas…the only place I truly call home.
I’m proud to say that I’m an “award-winning” author, but certificates and trophies are no match to the “rewards” I receive from having kids and librarians read and enjoy my books. That’s the spark that keeps my fingers tapping the keys.
